The Challenge
This year's challenge is called Breakaway. In the game, 120-pound robots score by kicking standard soccer balls into goals at the corners of the field. The field is divided into three sections by bumps running the width of the field. Robots may go over the bumps, or under them via a 38 inch wide tunnel in the center. Above each tunnel is a seven-foot-tall tower that robots can hang from at the end of the match to gain bonus points. This year's competition manual is available on the FIRST website.
